Meet our 2018 Continuing Education Speakers:

Keynote Speaker: Jill Autry, OD, R.Rh

Dr. Jill Autry received her pharmacy degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She practiced in critical care before returning for her optometry degree at the University of Houston. Following graduation, she performed a residency in ocular disease and surgical comanagement at the Eye Center of Texas ophthalmology center where she is a partner today. Dr. Autry lectures nationally and internationally on a variety of pharmaceutical and ocular disease topics and has authored numerous articles for both optometric and pharmaceutical journals. Topic: Pharmocology and Glaucoma 


Keeley W. Verrett, OD, ChhC, CCII

Dr. Keeley Williams Verrett is one of the few Holistic Optometrists in the world. She graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry and earned her designations as a Holistic Health Coach and Iridology Instructor. In 2008, she started Holistic Eyecare, a practice that incorporates holistic health coaching and iridology with traditional optometry. With her unique background, she is able to link eye symptoms to deeper imbalances within the body and offer her patients support with their nutrition and lifestyle. Today, she continues to practice Optometry, and has tailored her holistic practice to women’s health.  Topic: The Iris and Systemic Disease


Philip Aitsebaomo, OD 

Dr. A. Philip Aitsebaomo obtained an OD degree from Indiana University, Bloomington Indiana, and a PhD from the University of Houston College of Optometry, where he served as a faculty member prior to opening his private practice. He currently teaches at the University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry in San Antonio. He is actively involved in research, and has published several articles in peer reviewed professional journals. Topic: Scleral Lenses


Narges Kasraie, OD

Dr. Narges Kasraie is an associate professor at University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry. She provides patient care as an attending optometrist at the Eye & Vision Care clinic and also engages in educational activities such as teaching lectures and directing laboratories in various optometric fields. 

Dr. Kasraie earned her Doctorate of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry and completed a residency in primary care optometry at the Memphis Veterans Affairs Hospital in Tennessee. She has been part of the UIW family since the summer of 2009, and has continued to further advance in her field by becoming a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry in 2012 and a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (AAO) in 2014. Topic: Cultural Competency with Muslim Patients


Steven Summerow, OD

Dr. Stephen D. Summerow received his undergraduate degree from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Georgia where he completed a dual major course of study in biology and psychology. He then completed his Doctorate of Optometry at Nova-Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Dr. Summerow is licensed to manage and treat ocular diseases of the eye, as well as prescribe Therapeutic-Pharmaceutical Agents in the treatment of eye health conditions. Dr. Summerow is also certified to perform pre-and post-operative care after ocular surgeries. In 2016, Dr. Summerow became the Director of DRY EYE services at Eyesight Associates.Topic: Dry Eye


Lynn E. Lawrence, CMSrg(RET), CPOT, ABOC, COA, OSC is currently a national lecturer and an ophthalmic technician for Mills Eye and Facial Plastic Surgery. He retired after 30 years of service in the United States Air Force. During his military career he was promoted to Chief Master Sergeant and worked directly for the Air Force Surgeon General's Office where he was appointed as the Ophthalmic Career Field Manager for 540 Optometry/ Ophthalmology technicians at 90 locations and overseeing quality control for 133 optical stores world-wide. Lynn has been a COPE approved speaker since 2008. Topic: Avoiding Burnout
